Our Story
Tape Shapes CC (CK 1994/022442/23), a true Mzansi start-up, was founded in 1994 by two budding entrepreneurs in their respective Durban homes after a frustrating gap in the market was recognised.
Rod handled the sales side of the business while Jack built and operated the original die-cutting machines used to manufacture products for our first customers.
Adhesive tape was available, but having it cut to customer-requirement was only possible by sending the products overseas, creating long lead times that crippled manufacturing operations.
Coming from different departmental backgrounds, with collective 33 years working at 3M Company, both Rod and Jack synergised their skills to found the first company of its kind in South Africa.
Over the years, Tape Shapes grew at a steady pace, achieving ISO 9001:2008 certification and a Level 2 B-BBEE certificate in the process.
Today we operate out of a 540 square meter industrial unit in Mt Edgecombe.

3M Company and Avery Dennison are our two main product suppliers, providing distinctive products for many applications and markets.
